I wasnt expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did I was thinking more historical.I got the book because I didn't know John the Baptist had a wife so I was curious. The book was so good I read it in one sitting. It was romantic,sad , but had hope. It doesn't have a religious feel to it more about love , life, and fate. I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys a well told story.Product details

A book that takes you to new places, experiencing a new culture, weaving a story you could not have imagined was there. Not only all that, but a truly satisfying ending that we don't always get. I hope my next reAd is nearly as good.
The story is written as if John the Baptist's wife was telling it. I knew John didn't have a wife, but this very different and interesting. I liked this book.
This book is a lovely interpretation of the story of John the Baptist from the viewpoint of his wife--someone who isn't mentioned in the Biblical account. My only qualm was the afterword--I really didn't think positioning the story in terms of reincarnation added to the story.
I heard of this author from her first novel and was excited to read the second release. This is an awesome love story, page turner and we highly recommend. It is an easy read and not too long. We bought four copies total and gave out to friends.
Enjoyed very much this humanizing of John the Baptist. Often saints are idealized as "perfect" beings who have, through great effort and divine grace, transcended their humanness. But the truth is that the saints, John the Baptist included, most often fully embrace their humanness as a divine aspect and blessing of God. The Wife of John the Baptist shows John to be a passionate proponent of truth, yes, but also a man, a family man, with hopes and dreams, loves and fears. This well-told story often moved me to tears, and allowed me to fall in love with John and his wife, Hessa.
I thought I might be bored with the subject, but it gave the Biblical account a whole new aspect. K. Ford Kay is an excellent writer and she brings the times of the Greeks and Romans to life. The character is likable and this book is well researched. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
I gave this 5 stars because the author made this story come alive. It is a well balance blend of fact and fiction, titillating and breath-taking, yet provocative enough to get the brain cells working. There is sufficient descriptive language to tell the story without being graphic. It is both heart warming and heart breaking. Looking forward to more from this author.
